The last three weeks have been a whirlwind. It’s funny how we’re given what we need WHEN we need it. Meet Callie.
Our family has been going through some difficult transitions; an aging father/grandfather, nursing home decisions to be made, and the awareness that our family dynamics are ever changing. To say the least, there have been some pretty stressful and tearful days. We needed, without my even realizing it, a nugget of hope and new energy.
Callie is a ten month old spunky, energetic, sensitive, loveable, tail-wagging new member of our clan. She mournfully watches out the door as the girls leave for school in the morning and enthusiastically greets all of us as we filter in from school, work, and running errands.
The timing of Callie’s arrival has been uncanny. From the day we decided to fill out the rescue paperwork (what are the chances there would be a dog under the age of one (1) to adopt relatively soon?), to when we received the phone call from Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Club Association rescue coordinator (the day Dad was admitted to the hospital), I realized Callie’s arrival in our lives has been part of a larger picture. We’ve needed her just as much as she needed us.
Callie has finally found her forever home, it just had to be when the time was right.
