Hannah and Sam tied the knot in a sophisticated nod to Disney at their Marott Indianapolis Wedding near downtown. A professional “princess,” Hannah often brings joy to others by singing and impersonating various Disney princesses. On this day though, she truly was the princess marrying her prince.
Most memorable moment on the wedding day:
Hannah:The most memorable moment for me was waiting outside the doors of the reception with my new husband. It was the first time that we got to spend any time that day alone— just the two of us. For a few moments, time stood still as we discussed how perfectly our ceremony reflected who we were as a couple.Sam: When Hannah pulled the microphone out to sing her vows. I had this strange feeling she had something up her sleeve, but I never would have guessed that. That song has always been one we consider our song, but that day it became something indescribable for me.
Advice for future Brides:
Hannah: There is so much that society throws at us when it comes to weddings. Lots of “do this” and “do that”. Ignore it. The most important thing at the end of the day is that you are married. While planning, if you become overwhelmed, stop and remember what the day is for and not all of the other million details. Take risks, do what you want.
Sam: Take everything in, but enjoy each other. This is on the day of the wedding but, more importantly, through the planning process. So much goes into a one night event. Remember why you’re getting married. You have a love for each other you want to always share. It’s not about all the other stuff!
Funniest memory of the wedding day:
Hannah: The funniest memory is definitely Sam and our first dance. He went with me to so many dance lessons in preparation for our first dance because he knew how important it was to me. As much as we practiced… we knew someone was going to make some kind of mistake while we were dancing. About :30 seconds into our dance, I notice Sam stepping incorrectly, and without hesitation I made a simple and elegant hand gesture showing him where to step. Luckily, we got right back on track! After the dance, I was so thrilled that we had done so well. The best part— no one knew we had a slight glitch. It is still something we laugh at! Such a good memory. So proud of Sam!
Sam: It happened after the wedding and reception, Hannah and I were going to the hotel room. We had to ride an elevator up to front desk. The doors to the elevator opened at the same time a family was walking by. The little girl, maybe 3 or 4, looked over and saw Hannah in her gorgeous gown. Without hesitation she said, “Oh look, a princess!” I broke out in laughter! It was perfect and I know Hannah loved it! Also, during our first dance, I was so nervous that I would screw up the choreography. And, sure enough, I started to mess up. I realized it right when I started and attempted to adjust before Hannah noticed, but it was too late. She gracefully moves her arm to direct me the correct direction. I laugh every time I see the video of it!
If you could go back, would you change anything:
Hannah: Absolutely not. I believe that everything happens for a reason. It was a perfect day!
Sam: I thoroughly enjoyed or wedding! Having the people we love and care about with us to celebrate was amazing. The venue was gorgeous and everything was great! For me, however, all that was important was that we had those people there and I married Hannah at some point that night! If I could do it all over again, I’d find someone’s huge backyard to host my huge families and Hannah’s families for ceremony and reception. I’m simple.
Hannah: I love Disney and was excited to show Sam the magic since he had never gone before. We knew we would be feeling the magic of just being married and where better to feel like magic is real? We are both dreamers— almost to a fault. We believe in the good of the world. Disney has the kind of atmosphere where you step into the park and you feel all the happiness in the world. It was a perfect combination of happiness and total bliss!
Sam: Hannah is a huge Disney nerd and since we have been together she has begun to convert me. I had never been so that was the big to-do on Hannah’s ‘Sam To-Do List’. It was absolutely amazing!! She wore me out with everything she wanted to show me. It was all a blur because she was so excited we constantly were on the move. I can’t wait to go back to take it all in again.
