You believe in your story. I surrender to it. Capture it. And hand it back to you in a way you can remember forever.

You're about to embark on the most wonderful of adventures. Because you're here that tells me you value epic, mind-blowing photography. Well done!

I'm fortunate, and sometimes I have to pinch myself when I think about how much I love what I do. I illustrate every story you trust me with.

Incredible photographs result from a trusted relationship between us. This comes from a friendship, and from time invested in getting to know you, and why you have chosen the different elements that will make up your wedding day. Think of me as a visual biographer of sorts, a narrator, telling your story through the images of your day.

I want you to be blown away by how beautiful you really are, by how beautiful I see you to be.

Lets get started!

+ you are beautiful

If You Choose to do Your Wedding Day Make Up Yourself… Indianapolis, IN wedding photography, Richmond, IN wedding photography

by April 22nd, 2013 No Comments »

Ladies, part #4 on the makeup for wedding day photography series. Guest blogger and professional make up artist, Jessica Winchell studied makeup application for photography, magazine editorial spreads, film and TV, fashion, and bridal at the prestigious Cosmix School of Makeup Artistry in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where she studied under award winning makeup artist Erin Koplow and celebrity makeup artist Victoria Duke. She’s an expert in airbrush makeup for all types of events. You can see more of her work at jmariemakeup.com.

If doing your own makeup is the way you decide to go, Jessica provides a few tips to make things go smoother:

-Skin Tone… Don’t be that girl.  Before applying foundation, match the color to your CHEST, NOT YOUR FACE.

-Pick ONE feature to play up, eyes, lips or cheeks.  Dramatic eyes? Choose a lighter lip.  Bold lip? Choose a more simple eye look. Bold cheeks? Go easy on the lip and eye.

-Don’t forget to curl your lashes. It helps to create a bright, wide eye. Even if wearing false lashes, curl your own beforehand. While we are talking about lashes…Stick with waterproof mascara on your wedding day. Don’t risk running mascara.

-Highlighter. A highlighting concealer or a highlighter mixed with your concealer really opens up and brightens the undereye area like nothing else can do.

-PRIMING IS KEY!  Prime your face, lips and eyes after moisturizing.  A face primer is going to allow the makeup to glide on easily, fill in pores and fine lines, prevent you from getting as oily and make your makeup last so much longer.  Eye primer keeps eyeshadow from creasing or fading, allows for beautiful blending and gives the pigment in the eyeshadow a perfect base to really POP! Lip Primer works the same,  it is going to prevent your lip color from bleeding or fading as quickly as it normally would sans primer. Using a lip stain helps with this as well.

  • The day of a wedding can be full of stress, no matter how efficiently you plan. You, as a bride, wants everything to be perfect after months of planning. You’ve stayed up late planning or crafting things, spent time scouring the internet for ideas or resources, scrimped on money, shopped high and low for the perfect dress…. But sometimes things really are out of our control. As I was driving to Kayla and Grant’s wedding knowing that the dark clouds would eventually unleash, I wondered how the happy couple might be handling the surprise mother nature was about to throw at them. Admittedly, I was digging for an extra dose of patience, just in case. But I found the bride to be contained, with a smile on her face. And the groom, he was laid back—more worried about his suspenders than the impending rain. And when the drops started to fall, no one batted an eye. Plan B was put into action. Umbrellas were raised. People stepped up to the plate to help each other out. The bride—I never saw a tear. Her father escorted her to the ceremony site under a large golf umbrella, wearing a big smile. The ceremony, it was delayed to give traveling guests time to navigate the stormy roads. The groom—laughed and chatted with the guests. They took it IN STRIDE. And if this is any indication of how they will handle their life to come then we should all have no worries. The really beautiful thing… God gave them the most gorgeous sunset. Seriously, it was an amazing sunset after such crazy weather. And in the end, they were able to have the sparkler send off that they dreamed of. Read more see more. Link in bio.

  • It's engagement season, and serious couples have proposals on the brain! Treat the holidays as inspiration for your proposal, not a theme. A proposal with a champagne toast at midnight on New Year's Eve? Great idea! A rented Santa suit? Not so much. But more than anything consider if he/she will prefer a private proposal or one surrounded by family and friends around the Christmas tree. Enjoy the season lovebirds! #stylemepretty #indianapolisweddingphotography #Photo
