About Susanna Tanner

My odyssey started with a squirt gun masquerading as a camera. I was a silly third grader running around the hotel pool asking unsuspecting vacationers if I could take their photograph. My enthusiasm for capturing the moments of life hasn’t diminished, although my tools are now more professional and my clients stay dry.

As an established graphic designer and art manager, my goal is to create fresh, soulful images for my clients. Extensive advertising and publication design experience has helped me to skillfully apply my art expertise to my shooting style, providing exquisite photography for every client that I partner with. It’s a personal alchemy—equal parts photojournalism, motion, contrast, light, and a balance of simplicity and depth—that makes my images art.

Attention to detail, willingness to find the beautiful or quirky in the common, and the drive to push each photo until it is closer to perfect, will ensure your life moment is captured permanently in images that will last for generations.

**When you work on a project you tend to learn a lot about yourself. In the process of redesigning my website, and needing a photo shoot of my own, I was reminded how much I really don’t enjoy being in front of the camera. Maybe that makes me more empathetic to people who don’t necessarily enjoy having the spotlight on themselves? I know it makes me strive harder to ensure they reflect back on our photo shoot thinking to themselves, “You know, that really was kind of fun!”  After all, at the end of the day it’s not just about the images themselves, but what kind of EXPERIENCE you had making them.

The images above were taken by my friend Becky, undoubtedly an artist in her own right, and I have to say we had a blast just goofing around that day. I hope my clients walk away with the same feeling.
